Jon Barrenetxea-Arando, director of the Inatec Foundation, is participating in the 28th Álava Forum for Business Responsibility (FOARSE) conference.
At the 28th edition of the Álava Forum for Business Responsibility (FOARSE), Jon Barrenetxea-Arando, director of the Inatec Foundation, presented the projects that OTUA is developing to tackle the challenge of decarbonisation in various sectors. Among the projects highlighted were HORIZON CAESAR, HORIZON TRINEFLEX, HAZITEK Postauto, HAZITEK Decesi, HAZITEK Esmeral and ELKARTEK Ciriamet.
Key Projects:
HAZITEK Postauto: This project researches recycling technologies for post-consumer plastics, specifically polypropylene (PP) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) from the automotive sector. Its goal is to recover those materials to promote the circular economy.
HAZITEK Decesi: This project aims to reduce the CO2 of cement through solutions for recovering mineral fractions derived from energy recovery processes, and use those materials in construction and minimise waste in landfills.
HAZITEK Esmeral: This project is centred on developing technological solutions that improve the circularity of the metal industry in the Basque Country, in particular aluminium, zinc and copper, to lower the dependence on external raw materials and reduce the carbon footprint.
ELKARTEK Ciriamet: This project develops intelligent technologies based in artificial intelligence for classifying, separating, recovering and valorising valuable metals in recycling out of use vehicles to increase industrial competitiveness and promote the ecological and digital transition.
HORIZON CAESAR: Steel producers, recyclers, technology developers and research centres are brought together to validate technologies for improving and characterising ferrous scrap metal at an industrial scale. The project aims to maximise the recovery of low-quality scrap metal in Europe, while at the same time guaranteeing a high-quality product and creating routes for recovering non-ferrous fractions.
HORIZON TRINEFLEX: This project unites experts in energy management and industrial decarbonisation, digitalisation and big data. The solutions developed will be implemented in five demonstration cases in sectors like glass, aluminium, water and copper, in order to drive the transition towards zero net emissions in 2050.
