ALUBERRI: Lightweight Ultrapure Aluminium for Low-Specification Applications, with Excellence in Performance and Supply Chain Integration Consistency

Project Hazitek Aluberri

The HAZITEK-ALUBERRI project is a joint initiative involving the secondary aluminium refinery REFIAL, industrial metal waste recycling company REYDESA, OTUA’s corporate R&D unit INATEC, and TECNALIA. Its objective is to develop and validate an advanced technological chain for producing high-quality secondary aluminium from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs). Through XRF/LIBS sorting, RGB machine vision and optimised melting processes, the project aims to obtain high-purity 4xxx and 6xxx alloys with high levels of traceability and compositional stability, suitable for automotive applications, while strengthening the circular economy and industrial autonomy in the Basque Country.

The project is funded by the Hazitek programme and supported by the Basque Government and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
