[BIOLIVE] Using biotechnological processes for recovering lithium from electric vehicle batteries (PERTE VEC - PP18 VEC 020100 2022 214)
Start date: 01/01/2023, End date: 30/06/2025, Project type: R&D+i
Participants: A consortium of companies created by REYDESA Recycling S.L. and SEMANTIC Systems S.L. in the “Industrial Ecosystem of Innovation for Manufacturing Connected Electric Vehicles in Spain” project, a CEV PERTE with Renault as the tractor group.
The main goal of this project is to research, apply and validate a sustainable and innovative bioprocess treatment at a global scale for recovering embedded lithium using advanced intelligent digitalisation that, given its high market value, makes it possible to add value to the entire chain of the bioleaching process for recovering lithium using black mass obtained through mechanical processing of LFP type LIBs (with LiFePO4 cathode), which is the short/medium term future of the battery manufacturing sector. Various scientific-technological goals that were strategic in terms of business and environmental opportunities were pursued to achieve the main goal.
